Golden Moment, warm and sweet Late summer love song Somehow brand new As I walk along This long familiar street And pause to fully meet you For you are not merely The fading of what has been Nor the forming of Coming days, unknown You have a life, a dignity All your own Asking to be seen and heard Holy Moment, Sacred Word With Past and Future ever vying The Paradoxical Present, softly sighing As Living and Dying continue Their constant kiss Meanwhile, there is this Golden Moment I do not want to miss. ~Cheryl Anne Maris
Ponder
Every moment is alive with Presence, and gentle, Holy Wisdom; available to us, if we will pause and meet it fully. Take a breath, soften into This Moment. Receive its gift to you. Reflect and share if you feel moved. Your thoughts, feelings, and expressions are held safe and sacred, with respect, compassion, and gratitude.
Personal Note
As I write this note, I am filled with excitement and gratitude for the opening of this iteration of Oak Abbey; a vision that has lived in my heart for decades now. Simultaneously I am feeling an equal measure of trepidation as I face surgery early tomorrow morning for uterine cancer. All going well, I will then be awaiting the staging of the cancer, news of potential further treatment, and results from genetic testing due to a “high probability” of a condition called Lynch Syndrome; which is a predisposition to several different cancers. In the last few weeks I have been blessed with the company of all three of my children and the love of dear friends. I have gained much clarity about some things in my mind and heart that have been foggy for far too long. It’s been a time of great difficulty, but also tremendous healing and goodness. This is the ground where the abbey is being built with trust, and the oak is being planted with love. I know mine is not a unique situation, but I seek to walk through it and respond to it as genuinely and transparently as possible; with all the love and gratitude and hope I can muster! I am thankful for all the love and support!
