More Satisfied

prayer for a harrowing hour

In a world prone
to vanity and violence,
You have promised
that those who seek You
will find You.

Oh, Beloved,
let it be true!
That more and more hearts
would yearn for Tenderness,
and learn to create Peace.

That in surrendering
to our sacred smallness,
we might understand
the greatness of
Your Unfailing Love.

That in encountering
the magnitude of
Earth's Beauty and Wonder,
we might be humbled,
and more satisfied with You

than with any
passing delusion
of perfection,
or illusion
of power.

Heal us,
Help us;
Our Blessed Hope! 
In this and every
harrowing hour.
