May is Mother of the year Month of the Lady Month of Roses When Mother Earth shows us Her Most Beauteous Face and Mary hails us in return with grace of sweetest morning dew and bright beams of sunlight breaking through the layers of our sadness May is Mother of the year Month of Heart’s great gladness and life that will not be contained but celebrates passion deep ingrained in the clay of which we are made By Nature unhindered, unafraid and free as the wildflowers Warm as the breeze Vibrant and soft as tender new leaves born from branches not long past bare And so our hearts with May’s Kind Care may find us now more warm and fair than April had us believe May is Mother of the year May we Her Gifts receive.
From the time I was a little girl in Catholic school I have adored the month of May. I always loved the greater attention bestowed up the Blessed Mother; all of the celebratory processions, songs, and flowers. I still carry the beauty and joy of those occasions in my heart, and woke this morning immediately aware of and grateful for the first day of the Month of the Lady. I just returned home after an exhausting day of work, followed by the blessing of dinner with two of our dear patients who have become my even dearer friends. (One of these dear friends gifted me with a beautiful handmade prayer scarf/shawl, which I am wearing as I write this! My heart is so full!) Then, when I opened the door to my little room, I was deeply moved to find lovely pink roses waiting for me; a gift perhaps even more meaningful and timely than the sweet secret giver may have been aware of! This day draws to a close with happy mama hearts...a little one, and a much greater one! With love and gratitude to Sherrie and Chuck; and to my sweet Jame! (If my detective skills are on point!) Wishing everyone gentle consolations of beauty and peace throughout the month of May. ~Cheryl Anne
