We had a Service of Lament at St. Mary's this afternoon. It's important to give space to the grief, and to remember how tenderly we are held in the midst of all the discord. and pain. This quote from James Finley keeps circling around in my mind recently; "God is the presence that spares us from nothing, even as God unexplainably sustains us in all things. God depends on us to protect ourselves and each other, to be nurturing, loving, protective people. When suffering is there, God depends on us to reach out and touch the suffering with love that it might dissolve in love." Take good care of your dear heart, my Brother.

I love this poem, Cheryl Anne. and the image. I agree, the image is not what your poem evokes, but I am so glad you chose it … it’s wonderful.
